Fife's Public Dental Service is committed to promoting oral health within the kingdom of Fife. We aim to achieve this by developing effect preventative practice for oral health, providing a wide range of available and accessible services for those priority groups who, for a variety of reasons would not otherwise seek or be able to obtain treatment from a general dental practice

The Public Dental Service is a complimentary service to general dental practice. In practice this means serving all priority groups, including children or adults who cannot obtain treatment from a general dental practice, people with special needs, patients requiring specialized services including surgical dentistry, paedodontics, and services for anxiety including sedation and general anaesthetics. We also assist with patients who are restricted to their homes or hospitalized.

For more information on registering with a dentist click on the 'Registration and Dental Access' link on the left.

We work with a range of internal and external organizations to promote a multidisciplinary approach to Oral health promotion in schools, hospitals, care homes and with priority groups.

We also monitor Oral Health throughout life via screening programs and provide statistical information which is principally used to plan local services.
